Question by Christian Collins: I have a 1873 s gold double eagle and need to know what its worth. Have any ideas?

Ebay has some gold coins for sell and I guess Amazon does too. Check them out. Also, you could take the coins to several jewelry stores or coin collectors (not pawn shops) in your area and get it appraise. I heard on TV that a lot of people are not getting full value when they send their gold & silver in the mail to those advertise on TV. If you need more info, click my picture.

I'm just curious as to it's value. It was my mom's and was given to me after she passed away in 1995. It was minted on the same year as her birth. I'm not thinking of selling it. Just curious as to its value. I think those coins were 22k and it is on a long heavy 18k gold chain.

There's many ways to buy your double eagles. Check with your local coin dealers to start with. And I'm sure there are plenty of online retailers. I buy my Morgan silver dollars thru e-bay.

Before you begin buying, get a copy of The Official Red Book - A Guide Book of United States Coins. This will give you an idea of how much to pay for your coins.
