It sounds like you have some interesting items. You could go to a local coin dealer but remember he will probably quote you a wholesale price. If there is a local coin club some of the members might help you get a reasonable retail value and might even offer to buy the coins from you. Another option would be to go to a local bookstore and see if they carry a magazine called "Coinvalues" it is published monthly and is often referenced in the hobby. As far as the foreign stuff goes a coin dealer or collector is probably your best bet.

The focus here is on advice for a collector who seeks U.S. coins valued at over $250 each. Of course, I realize that not everyone can afford to pay $250 for a coin. I am not ignoring people who cannot. I strongly believe, though, that collectors who buy $10 to $100 coins may learn by reading this column. In order to understand the coins that a collector owns, the collector needs to understand coins that he (or she) cannot afford. It is important for all collectors to learn about the values and traditions relating to the coin collecting community. Besides, I will devote a future column or article to coins valued in the $10 to $100 range.

Advice and suggestions put forth here are geared towards a collector who is just starting, though may be of use to any collector who is willing and able to spend $250 or more per coin. Suppose he (or she) has decided to collect U.S. coins and thus will not be considering (at least not yet) colonials, territorials, patterns, or world coins. Also, further suppose this collector is not likely to will spend hours studying books on die pairings or other technical matters.

In general, the average collector spends a limited amount of time reading about coins, and is much more likely to read articles than books. Indeed, most collectors I know do not take the time to read entire books on coins, though I would recommend doing so.

Most collectors wish to have fun. It is true, however, that beginning collectors tend to enjoy coins more after they spend a few weeks or months learning.

So, herein, consider a collector who plans, over a period of years, to buy plenty of coins in the $250 to $1000 range, plus a few that cost more or less. Such a collector is flexible. On occasion, this collector may spend $1000 to $3000 per coin. The emphasis here, though, is on getting started collecting U.S. coins in the $250 to $500 range.

1873-S is a fairly common date with over 1 million produced. Value depends on condition, but at least $1200 based on gold value alone.

I suggest dealing with a local coin dealer rather than ebay. Much less risky.

Gold Eagles sell at a slight premium to the spot price of gold. Certain coins may also have a greater value based on the date or grade, so be certain to check for some comparable items on ebay.

Kitco lists buy and sell prices for gold bullion (look on right hand column). This is a good general guide too.

I do not see any key dates, some of the items listed sound phony (no such animal as a silver penny in the US), and your descriptions of the condition of the coins are not standard coin collecting descriptions. I might give you, sight unseen, 1.5 times face for everything but item 17, 18, 20, 21, 31 and 30. Of the exceptions the only one I would even look at is the 1847 one cent piece, which is probably worth a few extra dollars at minimum.

Your best bet is to take everything to dealer so he can "see" what you have.

Good luck

With the info you gave it would take to long to try and find it. I see none with eagles, in Iran they use a lion holding a sword most often. The strange numbers are Arabic numbers for the date and they use a different calender than the West. There are 2 backwards 7's so to speak one has one bump at the top the other has 2. I would need a scan of both sides or a good sharp photo. When it come to Arabic or Oriental coins a picture is worth a thousand words.

Most likely a silver 20 kopek coin dated 1895 from the Russian empire. Something like this, except yours is an earlier variety :
