if you go to google and type in the name of the coin or also there is a site but dont remember that tells you prices of all old and rear coins. other ways are that you can call gold buyers or antique coins and ask them

Question by tigerhuy: Why does a 1 oz silver American eagle coin appear larger than a 1 oz gold American eagle?
Is the gold a more dense metal? Or is is simply an optical illusion and the thickness is actually greater on the gold coin?

Yes, gold weighs more than silver. 1 oz. of silver would be bigger.

Well, since there were five of them in existence and all of them have been accounted for, your coin(s) (made up your mind) are if you have any are copies (fakes) and not worth the metal they are made of. I have 8 of them and each one says "Copy" on the reverse side. Lots of luck in selling them.

The coin may have a mint mark below the eagle's tail feathers: S (San Francisco), CC (Carson City), or plain (Philadelphia). If you have an authentic coin, it would be worth over 00 even if it is circulated. I recommend getting it certified by one of the major coin grading services (i.e.: PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc.). The gold would be worth 0 or so. I hope that helps.
